Programme Details

CyLon’s programme offers entrepreneurs all the training necessary to build and grow a successful cyber security company.

During the programme, each team receives:

Funding CyLon invests £15,000 in each team, in return for a 3% equity stake in your business. This funding allows you to commit fully to the three-month programme, and to focus on building your technology and company. You will be introduced to a variety of other investors throughout the programme, and will have the opportunity to pitch for further funding at CyLon’s Demo Day.
Training Our intensive training curriculum covers both the challenges and opportunities encountered by early stage cyber security companies, helping you to achieve product-market fit in a uniquely technical and demanding industry. The curriculum includes everything from business fundamentals and recruitment to product pricing and technical training.
Connections As the leading hub of cyber innovation in Europe, we pride ourselves on offering key connections for our startups. During the programme we invite leading figures from industry and government to speak to our companies, arrange business development trips, and introduce potential partners and clients.
Office Space During the course of the programme, all teams will be based in our fantastic London office, kindly provided by Winton Capital. This space offers our companies everything from valuable collaboration opportunities to delicious lunches.
Any questions?
Cyber security is one of the most challenging issues of our generation: in this smart, connected world, the safeguarding of computer networks and the protection of privileged information, whether institutional or personal, is absolutely essential.
Sir Iain Lobban
Former Director GCHQ and Chairman of the Advisory Board, CyLon
Participating in CyLon was one of the single greatest decisions our company has ever made. Their connections in the world of cyber security are unparalleled and they balance the level of commitment required for the accelerator perfectly with allowing teams to also work on building their business. CyLon have brought us customer intros, investor connections and helped raise our profile significantly since joining the program in 2016 -- if you're a cyber security startup, there simply is no better place to be!
Tim Sadler
CEO at CheckRecipient
CyLon was the best possible start we could have had for our company. Intruder was founded shortly before the accelerator began, and CyLon gave us both the platform and the rocket fuel we needed to launch our business. From the network of people we were introduced to, to the mentoring and review sessions which kept us on track and pushing forwards, the whole experience taught us more than we would have learned from years of going it alone.
Chris Wallis
CEO, Intruder - CyLon Alumni
CyLon has an incredibly huge network of industry experts that we got connected with. This helped us a lot in driving our business progress. We have also been amazed by the quality of Demo Day and the calibre of people that CyLon attracted. Free office space and food is another nice addition to the programme.

CEO, Aimbrain CyLon Alumni
What We Look For

Our definition of “cyber security” is very broad. We welcome applications from teams operating in a wide variety of industries, from defence to retail, telecoms to fintech, digital media to health services. To date, we’ve supported startups in fields including Blockchain, Compliance, Insurance, Data Protection, Privacy, Risk, Big Data Analytics and Cloud Security.

We have no formal restrictions concerning a company’s stage or size, but particularly welcome applications from small teams with big ambitions. We accept teams from all over the world, but expect founders to participate in person, in London, for the duration of the programme.

Participants have regular access to CyLon’s wide range of experienced mentors, enabling you to draw upon the expertise of seasoned entrepreneurs, academic researchers, government officials, industry leaders, and many more.

CyLon mentors include:

CyLon also operates the UK’s first early stage accelerator programme for cyber security: “HutZero”

HutZero is a more intensive version of CyLon’s accelerator programme, supporting individuals rather than teams. The programme is designed to transform early stage ideas into workable proposals and potential new businesses, supporting individuals at the very start of their entrepreneurial journey.

HutZero started its first programme in September 2016, supporting 23 individuals from a range of backgrounds as they made the first step toward starting their own cyber venture. To find out more and apply …
