Frequently Asked Questions
CyLon Scale - Programme Structure
When can I join the programme?
Applications are always open, and we welcome new companies onto the programme on a rolling basis. We review applications as quickly as we can, and aim to give you an answer within 6-8 weeks.
What is the time commitment?
The time commitment is flexible, but averages at approximately 2-3 days a month. If you’re accepted onto the programme, we will work out together what your key goals are for the programme, and what structure will work best for you.
Do I have to relocate?
No! Much of our content is delivered online, and we facilitate virtual introductions to our network all over the world. These will be supplemented by in-person events in Europe, Asia and the US once global circumstances permit, but we think you’ll find the programme extremely valuable even if you can’t attend.
Is this a new programme?
The CyLon Scale programme has evolved from the CyLon accelerator programme which we ran from 2015-2020, accelerating over 100 companies to a portfolio value of over £500m. CyLon Scale builds on everything we have learned and focuses on the elements that Founders want most. It offers you the best package of support possible while not disrupting the day-to-day running of your business.
CyLon Scale - Terms of Entry
Do I have to pay anything to join the programme?
Do you provide funding as part of the programme?
No – we do not provide grant funding or make a direct investment
What are the terms regarding CyLon’s future investment? Do you take any equity?
We do not take any equity when you join the programme. We want to support you further along your journey once the programme has ended, so all we ask for is a chance to participate in your next round of funding at a small discount, reflecting the value we are confident you will derive from CyLon.
Do you or any of your partners take any rights over our IP?
What is CyLon?
CyLon was founded in 2015 by Grace Cassy, Jonathan Luff and Alex van Someren, with the aim of supporting the security technologies of the future. Ever since then, CyLon has aimed to be the best possible partner for talented, ambitious entrepreneurs looking to launch, build or scale a cyber security business. We now do this globally through three core programmes, which you can read more about here.
What have you achieved so far?
We have supported over a hundred startups to date, building a wide range of high-impact technologies. As of August 2020, these are now valued at over £500m. CyLon alumni have gone on to raise investment from leading investors including Sequoia, Goldman Sachs, LocalGlobe and many others, and to win customers across global Enterprise.
Alongside this, our CyLon Spark programmes have helped stimulate the cyber security ecosystems in the UK, Asia and the Middle East.
I want to relocate my company - can you help me?
Through our global network, we CyLon Scale participants with market entry across EMEA, APAC and the US.
If you want to relocate to the UK, we are an endorsing body for applications for UK Startup & Innovator visas: please find more information here.
